Mark Whitehouse from Weston-Super-Mare has been a Sirus customer since 2014. Mark has recently taken delivery of his third Sirus wheelchair accessible vehicle, the Sirus Ford Drive/Upfront, which he drives from his wheelchair and travels upfront as a passenger when he isn’t driving. With a background in engineering, Mark tells us what he looks for in a car, and how important the finer details of a vehicle conversion are to him.
“We can’t believe we’re lucky enough to have it, especially during the coronavirus lockdown. My new Sirus WAV enables me to drive from my wheelchair and also allows me to sit upfront with Marie when I don’t want to drive”.

Richard and Marie Johns from Truro have been Sirus customers for almost five years. Richard drives a VW Upfront wheelchair access vehicle and transfers to the driver seat, or his wife Marie drives. They recently had a demonstration of the Ford Drive/Upfront which perfectly suits their needs.

Today we hear from our customer Stephanie Leaf from North Yorkshire, who has a Sirus Ford which is designed for her to travel upfront next to the driver. She loves the fact she can see more out the window and doesn’t feel like she is in a confined space.
Mrs Pauline Evans tells us all about her experience travelling in her VW upfront passenger wav the first time. She had almost given up on going out due to the travel sickness caused by sitting in the back in her wheelchair.
Gill Tyrer from Llandudno has a Sirus VW Drive and had a range of vehicle adaptations fitted to make driving from her wheelchair as comfortable as possible. Our expert engineers relocated many of the driving controls for Gill creating a bespoke box which housed a variety of switches and a drop in key, raised the floor for better vision, lightened the steering and fitted a small steering wheel. “When I first saw my adaptations, I thought oh my goodness! This vehicle really is quite unique!”
“It’s a cracking little motor! It’s never missed a beat and we have driven it the length and breadth of Spain…3,000 miles in just a few months. We have two bought Approved Used drive from wheelchair vehicles from Sirus and have had such brilliant service at a great price.
Our customer Mr Pope tells us about his experience with Sirus. “With regard to Tina (mobility specialist), I have to say she is the most beautiful person, in every way. What an asset she is to Sirus. To maintain such a calm and reassuring manner following many hours on UK’s motorways, is brilliant and the help she gave me in taxing the car, reading the small print (I forgot my reading glasses) was just like being taken out by one of my daughters but showing a bit more patience than they would have done!!! I play Powerchair Football for West Bromwich Albion Throstles and have done so for the past 10 years. I travel to and from games/training in my Upfront Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle converted by Sirus. In addition to football, the Sirus VW Upfront has given me so much freedom to travel without having to worry about not having enough space to take everything I need.
Sirus contacted me on several occasions to ensure everything was okay with me using the car with the appropriate adaptations, which was a transfer plate to help me get in and out of the vehicle with ease. This shows after care provision by an experienced member of your staff, which was very relieving and comforting for me as a disabled person.
Learning to drive is probably the single best thing I have ever done as it has given me independence and the freedom to live my life. I have a Sirus Fiat Qubo drive from wheelchair vehicle, where I drive straight in the rear via an automated tailgate and ramp which opens at the push of a button.
The engineers can fit all kinds of driving adaptations to make their customers lives easier, and they really think about how you are going to use the car for every day life. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sirus to anyone looking for a mobility solution.”
